What our customers say:
In a word: awesome. Thank you, Tammy (aka "Heather", as I called her for some free-association-based reason) and Ron. I went in for an IQAir unit for my parrot dust problem and left with that and a Ladybug steamer thanks to Tammy's non-pushy, low-key, sound advice. She showed me the units and let me see for myself how they worked. (Fabulous!) She was totally knowledgeable and friendly in a real way.
Gone are my avian "accidents" on my oak floors. My bathroom and kitchen countertops and will be clean and sterilized! The bird cages will sparkle! All at a very reasonable price, thanks to Grand Lake working with me to give me a deal for buying both units. I'll be coming back if I need anything sew or vac AND I'll be sending along all my animal friends who need your products.Margie G.

The people who work here are nice (yes, in my book, nice gets stars!) and they fixed/cleaned my sewing machine and now it works great and it wasn't too tough on my budget either.Murry t.

I though I'd be spending a bunch of money to fix my broken vacuum cleaner cord and yet... turns out I had a two prong thingy on a three prong cord. Der. These fine folks solved the problem on the cheap... and then slyly suggested one of their newer, better built models...Jen F.

I wanted a dustbuster, but they recommended a Dirt Devil, and it works much better. Even with a small purchase, I received excellent attention...Stu S.

I had a Hoover Futura can vacuum serviced here, where they also repaired the lockring on the hose that I otherwise thought was good as dead. For so little $$, and in less than a day, they basically brought that vacuum back to life.
I've since given that vacuum away and naturally needed to replace it (um, upgrade), so I felt inclined to shop here when I decided on a new Miele. Tammy set me up really well with an S4xx series model and was flexible enough to supply me with a package that contained exactly the fittings, heads and color that I wanted, despite Miele's very strange way of determining factory packages. I got all for a very decent price and walked away confident they'll be able to attend to any warranty, repair and maintenance issues with the new vac without any hassle.
Regardless of your model of vacuum, they'll probably have the replacement accessories for it, so come shop here for your bags. Support the small neighborhood angels and ditch the big retail giants.Alfonso E.

Of course, the vacuum I spent $500 on just a few years ago has been discontinued by Eureka. It's served me well, through two places with our three dogs, so there's no way I'm buying another one until this one completely konks out. I called up Grand Lake Sew & Vac, and they not only had my vacuum bags in stock but offered to order me a new HEPA filter when I mentioned I might be needing one.
I have to say there's something kind of old-school charming about a place that deals with just vacuum cleaners and sewing machines. Now that I'm all into Project Runway, one day soon I may run down here, pick up a refurbed Singer, and take up a new hobby. And I fully trust I could ask the Sew & Vac folks all my crazy sewing machine questions without feeling like a dufus.Mel H.

This business is run by a very nice family. It is the anti-thesis of Wal-Mart/Target. Great service, varied selection, staff who knows what they're doing. You will not only feel good patronizing them, but you will end up with what you need for your vacuuming issues. I was buying a new vacuum for our preschool and they recommended the Windsor.
It's been wonderful so far. It receives a fair amount of abuse by the daily use it gets picking up sand, lunch remnants, play dough, glitter and other difficult crud from the combination hardwood and area rugs.Elaine C.

I took my vaccuum in for serivce due to a serious clog. I expected to have to leave it for a few days. Instead, they unclogged, cleaned, and serviced it while I waited. The technician also spotted a stretched-out belt, which he said would last a bit longer but only if I vaccuumed low-pile carpets, so he replaced it on the spot, saving me yet another trip to the store, and a second service fee. When my sewing machine needs service in the future, I know this is where I'll bring it.Sheila A.

Our vacuum was close to death- it was a fairly cheap (like less than $200) Hoover that I had gotten for my 30th birthday (you know you are old when you get a vacuum for a birthday gift) from me dear ol' Dad. Not only did they revive my dying friend, but they gave her a good cleaning through her tubes, put in new bags and belt. All this for a fair price and totally friendly service... Four days later (after the vacuum had been dead for more than a week) I was joyfully vacuuming my carpets of all the yucky crumbs that had accumulated. Yea! My vacuum is alive and kickin'!! Plus they gave me five bucks off for picking it up the day they called- are ya' kidding me?Britt B.
